7 Great Reasons to Play With Your Cat Regularly

October 1 2018
Do you play with your feline pal regularly? If so, that’s terrific! Playing is of course lots of fun for Fluffy, but it’s also great for her! Read on as a local Matthews, NC vet lists some great reasons to play with your furball every day.

Ease Tensions

Do you have more than one cat? Are Fluffy and Mittens not getting along? Dual play sessions will allow your pets to form positive associations with one another. This can really help ease tensions between your pets.

Keeping Fluffy Fit

Cats, as you may have noticed, are rather sleepy little furballs. While Fluffy’s napping obsession is cute, it makes it easy for her to get out of shape, especially as she ages. Playing is really good for your feline pal. Even a few minutes of playing Chase The Red Dot will be beneficial.

Healthy Outlet

Do you have a furry little curmudgeon on your hands? Playing will give Fluffy a healthy outlet for her anger. Use toys that you can control, like a wand toy or laser pointer.

Purr Activation

Kitties are always happiest when they feel loved and safe. If you take time to hold a laser pointer or wand toy for your furball, she’ll know that you’re doing something for her benefit. Don’t be surprised if your furry pal hops into your lap after playtime is over. Cat purrs are one of life’s greatest treasures, as far as we are concerned!

Soothing Anxiety

Playing can help shy kitties gain confidence. Fluffy has to concentrate to nail those tricky pounce/jump combinations. This can help nervous cats build their self-esteem, just as scoring a goal can help a timid child become more self-assured.

Mental Stimulation

Playing is great for your feline buddy’s mind. Cats have to concentrate to time their pounces and butt-wiggles just right! This will help keep your pet’s brain healthy. This is especially important as your kitty ages.

It’s Cute

Playtime can be just as fun for you as it is for your pet! Our feline friends are absolutely adorable when they are running and jumping. Add catnip to the mix, and you have live entertainment! Is your cat due for an exam, vaccinations, or parasite control? Please do not hesitate to contact us, your local Matthews, NC vet clinic, for all of your cat’s veterinary care needs. We’re happy to help!
